Chicago, IL – Kamehachi – Old Town presents an extension of A Red Orchid Incubator’s Celebration by Harold Pinter infused with the music of Mauricio Kagel, a c a K e experiment with music by beyond this point. c a K e/beyond this point is fiscally sponsored by High Concept Laboratories, an arts service organization dedicated to supporting working artists and engaging the Chicago community with arts and culture. This collaboration was partially developed in the studios at High Concept Laboratories as part of the Sponsored Artist Program in the Fall of 2014. The production is directed by dado, with music direction by John Corkill and Alex Monroe. The production features 9 up-and-coming actors and 2 experimental percussionists. Shows will run evenings of Tuesday – Thursday (9/1 – 9/3) at 7:30pm and Sunday (9/6) at 8pm in the second floor cocktail lounge of Kamehachi – Old Town, 1531 N. Wells.
Set on the eve of an anniversary party held in an ornate London restaurant, Harold Pinter’s Celebration aims to explore the bizarrely acute condition of human existentialism. This theatrical experiment will place the restaurant on top of Mauricio Kagel’s music, as performed by beyond this point, to cultivate the relationships of human tension, dark humor, and existential disposition.
